The National University of Bangladesh (NU) offers various programs and degrees, including Honours, Degree, and Masters courses. There are also opportunities for admission to various professional courses. The NU Admission 2025 process is currently underway for several courses. Admission-related activities will be conducted through the www.nu.ac.bd/admissions website. Here, we present various information related to the National University Admission. This includes admission circular, application eligibility, application procedure, merit list, release slip, and final admission, among other things.
NU Admission Circular 2025
The NU Admission Circular 2025 has been published. National University Admission Circular for several courses have already been published. These include Honours, Degree, and Masters. Application Eligibilities
The eligibility for application is mentioned in detail in the NU Admission Circular. Each course requires separate qualifications for application. Since no admission test is conducted for the National University Admission, it has to be completed only based on the results of SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations, so the student has to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria to apply. The latest eligibility criteria for admission to National University Honours are as follows.
- Students who have passed the HSC or equivalent examination in 2023/2024 from the Humanities branch under any Board/University recognized by the Government of Bangladesh, who have passed the SSC or equivalent examination in 2021/2022 and have obtained a minimum GPA of 3.0 in both examinations, are eligible to apply.
- Students who have passed the HSC or equivalent examination in 2023/2024 and the SSC or equivalent examination in 2021/2022 from Science and Business Studies groups under any recognized Board/University of Bangladesh and have obtained a minimum GPA of 3.0 in both examinations can apply.
- Students who have passed i) HSC (Vocational), ii) HSC (Business Management), or iii) Diploma-in-Commerce examination from Bangladesh Technical Education Board can apply using their obtained scores.
- Students who obtained a minimum grade of 3.0 (out of 5.0) in four subjects in the O-Level examination held in 2021/2022 and one subject in the A-Level examination held in 2023/2024 can also apply. The application must be submitted with proper official documents and approval.
- Foreign students or students with foreign educational qualifications equivalent to secondary and higher secondary levels have to apply through the respective university board and submit the necessary documents and a letter from the board for verification.
- Students applying for the Honours program cannot have dual admission in any other institution or program.
How to Apply
Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the National University admissions website. Follow the steps below to apply:
- Go to the website www.nu.ac.bd/admissions.
- Enter the designated course (Degree/Honours/Masters, etc.).
- Click the "Apply Now" button to provide your SSC and HSC information.
- Fill in the required personal information in the admission form.
- Upload the required documents.
- Submit the application and pay the application fee.
After applying online initially, the prescribed application form has to be printed and submitted to the applied college. Other necessary documents and application fees have to be paid for submission to the college. After paying the fee through the prescribed process (mobile banking or others), the receipt and the application must be submitted to the concerned college. The application will not be accepted if the college authorities do not confirm the application within the stipulated date.
NU Admission Result
The National University Admission Result is published in several stages. Generally, two merit lists, one migration result, and one quota result are published. Apart from this, the results of two release slips are also published. All merit lists are published based on the student's SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent results.
1st Merit List
The first merit list is published after the primary application deadline. The first merit list of NU Admission 2025 will be published based on the combined GPA of the SSC and HSC examinations. Those whose names will be on the merit list have to confirm their admission by paying the required fee and submitting the required documents within the stipulated time.
The 1st merit list for the latest degree admission has been published on 20th October 2024. Students selected for admission in the first merit list have to fill out the final admission form between 26th October and 7th November and complete the admission process between 27th October and 10th November.
2nd Merit List
Subject to vacancies after the first merit list, the National University (NU) will publish a second merit list. This merit list is for those who did not get a place in the first list.
The 2nd merit list for degree admission to the National University is expected to be published in the second week of November.
Migration Result
The migration process allows students to upgrade their subject of choice. The student has to determine the migration option while filling out the final admission form. If a student is not selected for admission in the first subject of his/her choice, he/she will benefit from migration. Migration will be automatic based on student preference, vacant seats, and merit. Migration results are published with the second merit list. If a student's subject is changed through migration, he/she does not have to take new admission. He/she only has to download a subject change form by logging in to the admission website and submit it to the new department.
The migration result will be published along with the 2nd merit list for Degree admission.
Quota Result
NU has special quotas for students, including freedom fighter quota and others. Quota results are usually published separately. Students selected for admission under quota also have to complete the admission process by filling up the final admission form within the stipulated date. Quota certificate has to be submitted along with other documents at admission.
Release Slip Result
Release slip application is for those who have not been allotted any subject in the merit lists and have not confirmed or canceled admission. Students can apply for a release slip to get a chance to get admission in another college. Applicants can apply to a maximum of 5 colleges anew through a release slip application. Students selected in the release slip also have to complete the admission process by filling out the final admission form within the stipulated date.
The 2nd release slip result for the latest Honours admission has been published, and the admission process has been completed.
Check NU Admission Result
NU admission results can be known in two ways: online and SMS. To view admission results online, follow the steps below:
- Go to the website www.nu.ac.bd/admissions.
- Select your admission type (e.g., Honours, Degree).
- Click on the login link.
- Enter your admission roll number and PIN.
- Log in to view results.
Results will also be available via SMS. Usually, the results will be available via SMS around 4 PM, and will be published online around 9 PM.
Results via SMS
To know the result through SMS, the applicants can send an SMS by following the steps below and they will know the result in the return message.
- In the message option, type - NU <space> Course Keyword <space> Admission Roll
- Send the message to 16222.
As course keywords, you have to write ATHN for Honours Course, ATDG for Degree Pass Course, ATMF for Masters (Regular), and ATMP for Preliminary to Masters.
Final Admission Form Fill-up
After being selected, students have to fill the final admission form within the stipulated date. The National University announces detailed instructions and deadlines at the time of publication of results at each stage. Students have to complete the admission process by following the stipulated time frame. Otherwise, the nomination will be canceled. To fill the final admission form, the student has to fill the form with necessary information by logging in to the admission website.
Dual Admission Cancellation
Students already admitted to any other program have to cancel their previous admission to complete the National University admission process. Failure to cancel dual admission may result in disqualification from both programs.
Final Admission
To finalize admission, students must complete all necessary steps, including payment of admission fees, submission of final admission form and required documents. Admission fees generally include application fees, registration fees, and other miscellaneous expenses.
