MBBS Admission in Bangladesh is highly competitive. Every year, thousands of students compete for admission to MBBS programs in public and private medical colleges. A centralized admission test is conducted for admission to all public and private medical colleges in the country. The admission test and the overall process are conducted under the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME).
The DGME has already published the guidelines for public and private medical and dental colleges. At the same time, the Medical Admission Circular 2025 has been published. This guide provides important information for prospective students for the 2024-2025 academic year, including application procedures, eligibility criteria, exam structure, and more.
Medical Admission Circular 2025
The Medical Admission Circular 2025 was published on December 8, 2024. The circular includes important information for applying for MBBS Admission 2024-2025, such as eligibility criteria, application procedure, important dates, and admission test guidelines. This year, the medical admission test for the MBBS course is scheduled for January 17, 2025. Candidates must complete their application through the official portal at dgme.teletalk.com.bd by 11:59 PM on December 27, 2024. Application was started on December 10, 2024. During the application process, the candidate has to select the center for the admission test and must appear for the exam at that center.
Application Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to participate in the Medical Admission test for public and private medical colleges:
- Educational Qualification: Applicants must have passed the SSC or equivalent examination in 2021 or 2022 and the HSC or equivalent examination in 2023 or 2024, with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics subjects.
- Minimum GPA: Candidates must have a total GPA of 9.0 in SSC and HSC examinations, with at least 3.5 in each. However, students in certain quotas, such as tribal applicants, can apply with a GPA of 8.0.
- Biology Result: All candidates must have at least 4.0 in Biology at the HSC or equivalent level.
- Quota Benefits: Special seats are reserved for children of freedom fighters, tribal students, and certain regional applicants.
The above conditions will apply to Bangladeshi students applying for MBBS Admission 2025. However, there are separate qualifications and application processes for foreign students. International students can learn more from the DGME website.
How to Apply
The application process must be completed online through dgme.teletalk.com.bd. Follow these steps:
- Visit the application site: Go to the MBBS admission section.
- Fill out the form: Provide personal, educational, and other necessary information.
- Preference order: Provide a preference order from the list of government medical colleges.
- Upload documents: Recent photo of specified size and scanned signature of specific dimensions.
- Submit and print: After submission, save and print a copy of the application for future reference.
- Application Fee: Pay the application fee of 1000 Taka through Teletalk prepaid mobile number.
When paying the application fee, the applicant has to select the center for the admission test. The candidate will be allotted a center from a total of four preference orders, subject to availability of seats. The admission test must be taken at the designated center.
Application Fee Payment
A 1000 Taka application fee must be paid through Teletalk prepaid mobile number. When confirming the application fee, four center codes must be written using comma (,). Follow these steps to make the payment:
- First SMS: Type MBBS <User ID> and send to 16222.
- Confirmation SMS: A PIN will be sent to confirm the payment.
- Second SMS: Type MBBS YES <PIN> <Center Codes> and send to 16222 to complete the payment.
To avoid cancellation of the application, confirm the payment within 72 hours of submitting the application. Applicants will receive a confirmation SMS if the payment is successful.
Center List and Code
Applicants have to select four preferred examination centers from different centers in Bangladesh. Some popular centers include Dhaka Medical College, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Shahid Sohrawardy Medical College, Mugda Medical College, Dhaka Dental College, Chittagong Medical College, Rajshahi Medical College, and Mymensingh Medical College. Medical Admit Card 2025
No candidate will be allowed to participate in the admission test without an admit card. The admit card must be downloaded between January 12 and January 14, 2025. DGME will inform the candidate about the download time and rules via SMS.
- Log in to dgme.teletalk.com.bd with the provided User ID and password.
- Download and print the admit card.
The admit card will contain details about the Admission Test date, time, center and venue. In addition, detailed instructions for the examination will also be mentioned in the admit card, which the candidate must follow.
Marks Distribution
The admission test will be held according to the syllabus of HSC and equivalent examination 2024. The admission test will consist of 100 multiple choice questions, divided into the following sections:
- Biology: 30 marks
- Chemistry: 25 marks
- Physics: 20 marks
- English: 15 marks
- General Knowledge (Bangladesh and International): 10 marks
For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. The total marks are 100, and pass marks is 40. Students who are appearing for the admission test for the second time will have 3 marks deducted from their total marks. Students who are already admitted to any government medical college or dental college will have 7 marks deducted.
Medical Admission Result 2025
The Medical admission result is expected to be published on January 19, 2025. It will be available on the official website of DGHS (result.dghs.gov.bd). Candidates can check their results using their admission test roll number. In addition, the Directorate General of Medical Education will inform the results to the mobile number of all successful candidates through SMS. Successful candidates will be included in the merit list, and further instructions will be provided for final admission.
Final Admission
Candidates on the merit list have to complete the admission formalities. All instructions regarding admission will be published on the DGME website (dgme.gov.bd). Selected students have to complete the admission by submitting the required documents and fees. Admission must be completed in person at the designated college on the scheduled date.
Migration Result
The DGME allows migration between medical colleges based on merit and seat availability. Candidates interested in migration need to apply after admission. Migration results will be announced on the DGME website. Migration will be upwards in the order of preference. Multiple migrations will be conducted based on vacant seats.
Conclusion
There are 5,380 seats in Government medical colleges in Bangladesh. There are also 6,295 seats in Private Medical Colleges. Students are admitted to all these seats through a single admission test. First, admission to government medical colleges is completed and then the admission process in private medical colleges starts. Only the candidates who pass the admission test can apply for admission in private medical colleges. The admission process in private medical colleges is completed through a centralized system.
